Andamooka Town Management Committee, Winner!

The Andamooka Town Management Committee has been awarded the Department of State Development’s Innovation Award for its development of a splash pad for the town.  The Brand SA far north Regional Awards, held in Roxby Downs last Wednesday night, recognised the installation of the splash pad as both practical and efficient in water usage that allows locals and tourists to enjoy a bit of relief from high temperatures experienced in the outback of South Australia.  The project, built on an absolute shoestring budget, required ingenuity, tenacity and bucket loads of good will, all of which are in abundance in Andamooka.Brand SA Awards

The 2014 Regional Awards received a record number of nominations, with a very high calibre of deserving individuals, community groups and businesses.  Brand South Australia received 2,346 nominations across the State, with 190 from the far north region.

The South Australian Regional Awards are held annually to celebrate and showcase the achievements of individuals, groups and organisations that have made significant contributions to regional South Australia. 

The Outback Communities Authority congratulates all finalists and award winners and applauds them for their contribution to the region.  Thanks also go to Brand SA for its continuing support in the outback.

More Time to Consider Community Funding Policy

The Outback Communities Authority (OCA) is reviewing how it offers support to outback communities and how it manages public infrastructure in the outback.  As a result the OCA is now seeking to engage with communities across the outback on a draft Community Funding Policy.  The new policy will allow for improved delivery of municipal services to outback communities and better management of public facilities across the outback.

FAQIf adopted, the policy will represent a significant shift in the way the OCA supports communities and will commence on 1 July 2015. 

Consultation on the policy was due to conclude at the end of October however, due to the number of community forums to be held across the outback the OCA felt more time was needed for communities to fully consider and comment on the impact of the policy.  To allow more time the OCA has extended the timeframe for communities to give feedback on its draft Community Funding Policy. 

Residents of the outback and groups representing communities are encouraged to review and make submissions on the draft policy.  The draft policy will now be available for review until 30 November 2014.  A copy of the draft policy and feedback form can be accessed at www.oca.sa.gov.au/funding or by calling the Office for the OCA on 86485970 or
