  • 'From the Outback to the Battlefront' memorial book launched in Blinman

    The Minister for Local Government and Regional Development, the Hon. Geoff Brock MP, launched the Outback Communities Authority’s (OCA) historical record – From the Outback to the Battlefront – in Blinman last week.

    From the Outback to the Battlefront documents the service history of Outback South Australian communities who served Australia in the many theatres of battle around the world during the late 19th through to the 21st Century.

  • Manager of Leigh Creek Contracts and Services appointed

    The Outback Communities Authority (OCA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Robert Stack as the inaugural Manager of Leigh Creek Contracts and Services for the Leigh Creek township.

    The appointment follows the State Government announcement on 6 June 2016 that the OCA will be responsible for the municipal management of Leigh Creek as the township transitions to government management from 1 January 2017.

  • OCA and RDA release Economic Growth and Investment Strategy

    The Outback Communities Authority (OCA) and Regional Development Australia Far North (RDAFN) are pleased to announce and release an Economic Growth and Investment Strategy for the unincorporated areas of outback South Australia.

    The strategy identifies key areas, projects or activities which will have immediate, medium and long-term economic benefits for the outback and informs a targeted, strategy approach to facilitate change towards a prosperous future for the outback.

  • Expression of Interest - Andamooka Town Overseer

    The Outback Communities Authority (OCA) is looking to enter into an agreement with a contractor to undertake the services of town overseer in the Andamooka Town Management Committee (ATMC) Office in Andamooka from 1 November 2016 to 31 October 2017.

    The services provided by the contractor will ensure that certain aspects relating to the effective management of Andamooka and surrounds are undertaken in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Expression of Interest - Andamooka Town Management Committee

    The Outback Communities Authority (OCA) is calling for expressions of interest (EOI) for a community representative on the Andamooka Town Management Committee (ATMC). The ATMC was established in January 2012, in partnership with Andamooka Progress and Opal Miners Association Incorporated, to provide advice in relation to effective governance and management of the Andamooka township and surrounds.

  • Expression of Interest - Supply of Services for Levy Collection

    The Outback Communities Authority (OCA) is looking to enter into an agreement for the collection of a levy established under the Outback Communities (Administration and Management) Act 2009.

    The OCA is responsible for implementing a levy in two outback communities and is seeking the assistance of a billing partner to undertake levy collection on behalf of the OCA.

  • Australian of the Year: Worthy of Attention

    Nominations are now open for the Australian of the Year Awards 2017!

    Each year, the Australian of the Year Awards focuses on Australians worthy of attention. Who would you like to see recognised?

    Nominations are being sought for Australians excelling in all fields of endeavour including arts, media and entertainment, business, charity, education, environment, indigenous/ethnic services, medicine/science, engineering/technology and sport.

    There are four categories to choose from:

  • OCA secures $199,075 in funding from the Upper Spencer Gulf and Outback Futures Fund

    The Minister for Regional Development, Geoff Brock, today announced that the OCA was successful in securing $199,075 from the Upper Spencer Gulf and Outback Futures Fund. With further contributions from the OCA and community Progress Associations, this grant will improve functionality and aesthetics for both residents and visitors to Outback South Australia. Funding will be distributed across nine outback communities:

  • OCA Board welcomes a new Member

    The Outback Communities Authority is pleased to announce the appointment of one new board member, Mr Mark Fennell of Lambina Station, located around 70 kilometres from Marla in the Far North. Mark owns a pastoral contracting business and is respected for his practical understanding of remote service operations. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge in water management, the provision of power and road maintenance.

  • Nuclear Community Consultation Program

    The Nuclear Fuel Cycle Royal Commission was established so that Government and the community could be provided with a solid evidence base about the State’s further involvement in the nuclear fuel cycle.

    Following the release of the Royal Commission’s report on Monday, 9 May 2016, the Premier announced a state-wide consultation process encouraging all South Australians to carefully consider the evidence presented, understand the choices and provide their views.
