Outback South Australia is big - about 625,000 square kilometres or 63% of the State. For comparison, this is an area as big as France and 2½ times bigger than the United Kingdom. The Outback Communities Authority (OCA) model is a hybrid between local government and community self-management by the 4,500 people who make this region their home. The OCA represents the interests of these people and their families.
