Coorabie
Coorabie is a small farming and grazing settlement 160 km west of Ceduna and adjoining the Yalata Aboriginal lands. It lies between the Eyre Highway and Fowlers Bay to the south east. The Coorabie district includes the roadhouse and camping facility at Nundroo on the Eyre Highway.
The Coorabie and Nundroo farming lands are marginal and represent the western-most extremity of agriculture in South Australia.
Petrol and supplies are available at the Nundroo roadhouse. At the small centre of Coorabie the school buildings are now used as a community centre.
There are approximately 20 people that now live in the district as with reduced population due to the sale of farms and the need for youth to leave the district to pursue education and employment opportunities.
Coorabie Progress Association meet approximately 1-2 times per year, not on a regular basis. Their main fundraising opportunity is the rent received from the Fowlers Bay caravan park as they own the land on which the park is located. They also organise an annual golf day in September which is popular with over 100 players plus a New Years Day Sports Day which is well attended.
